Google Search Console is a collection of tools and resources to help website owners, webmasters and SEO professionals monitor website performance in the Google search index. Google does not change its product name frequently as Microsoft but this product from Google is odd out of them. It has changed its name two times from its lunch and they are “Google Webmaster Central” and “Google Webmaster Tools”.
After installation of my WordPress site I added few articles to it but while searching my website on Google it was not searchable. It made me upset so that I took the help of Google what is its actual reason? I found that Google or any search engine they need instruction which helps them to crawl your website. This is also true any search crawler like Google and Bing it finds new websites automatically and add them into their indexing list but if you want full control on it then you need to take different direction from the mass. Google Search Console is about how Google crawls, analyses and indexes of your website. If you will search randomly on Google about SEO tools you will get tons of article which tells about many different kind of services or tools or plugins which can enhance your SEO but I personally believe Google Search Console is the best tools ever. It helps you to discover problems which might hurt your ranking or other user experience.
In this article I am going to explain how you can add your WordPress site to Google Search Console. Follow below step by step process:
Step 1: Go to Google Search Console website click on search console button.
Step 2: A new windows appear where you need to click on sign in button which is located on right corner as mentioned below illustration.
Step 3: After login into your google account you will see Search Console interface will allow you to add your website URL.

Step 5: Once you clicked on “Add a property” button it would take you to new window where you have two options.

- Alternate methods
Under Alternate methods you have four options and they are as follows
- HTML file upload
- HTML tag
- Google Analytics
- Google tag manager
For this article I am going use recommended method to verify my WordPress site for Google Search Console. If you wish you can go with alternate methods but from my point of view recommend method is less time consuming.
Step 6: Once you enter your website address in previous step as explained, it automatically detect your domain name provider. In my case its Godaddy.com. Now go to your domain name provider login page and sign in to your account.
Step 7: Now I am under Godaddy interface, your interface might looks different according to your domain name provider. If you are using Godaddy as mine then click on DNS button.
Once you click on DNS button, it would redirect to a new window where you need to click on “add”.
After clicking Add, small window would expand where you need to provide values as below illustration.
For Type – TXT, Host – @, TTL- 1 Hour and for TXT Value you need to go back on Google Search Console page and copy “Google-site-verification” text string and paste it under it.
Step 8: If everything looks good as I have explained and you have followed me then click on verify button.
Now you will see a congratulation message as below.
Click on continue button which will redirect to Google Search Console dashboard.
Recently, Google has introduced a new user interface for Google Search Console. If you want to try it out then click on “Try the new Search Console” link.
