But these days SEO meaning has changed. It is not more secret sauce rather then a technique. Yoast SEO is a powerful SEO plugin for WordPress users. At the same time Google Search Console is yet another arsenal in your SEO toolkit. Google Search Console has its own sophisticated tools. Without visiting Google Search Console if you want to see what it finds as an error. Your better bet would be Yoast SEO.
In our last blog post we had discussed how to connect WordPress site into Google Search Console. In this article the first half will be some basic definition like crawling and indexing . The other half would be how you can connect your Yoast SEO to Google Search Console.
What is crawling & Indexing ?
Google uses a program also known as Google bots to crawl and index your pages. Crawling means Google bot visit your website’s each pages one link at a time. While indexing means it store all your pages information in its search result pages. Sometime while Google crawl your pages it figures out some error which are of two types:
Site Errors : Which can affect your entire website.
URL Errors: Which can affect specific page of your website.
You can view crawling errors from Search Console into Yoast interface. For the same you need to connect your Yoast SEO to Google Search Console. Below is the step by step process which you can follow.
Connect Google Search Console to Yoast SEO
Step 1: To connect Google Search Console to the Yoast SEO plugin you need to navigate Yoast SEO -> Search Console.
Step 2: The next step is to connect them together so that click on Get Google Authorization Code button.
It will take you to Google account. There, you will be asked to confirm that you want to connect Google Search Console to Yoast SEO. Click on Allow button.
Step 3: Once you allow the plugin to connect with your Google account then it will provide you a key which you need to copy as below illustration.
Step 4:Now simply copy-paste that code and insert it into the box in Yoast plugin then hit Authenticate button.
Step 5: Now choose the profile you would like to connect, in our case its https://hello-sunil.in/ and click on save profile button.
Step 5: You are done with basic settings. You can continue in the first tab of that same section in Yoast SEO plugin i.e Desktop. Be sure to check the other tabs (smartphone, feature phone ) as well to find specific crawl errors.
On the above screenshot you will find the information Yoast collected from Google Search Console. In this table, you see the URL that gave an error, the date Google crawled it last, the date when Google detected the error first and the response code Google sent.
